Meet the founder
Relief is a business strategy.
I founded Wren & Co. to help leaders and teams regain the clarity, capacity, and follow-through that get lost when too much depends on too few people.
April Atwater — Founder & Executive Operations Partner

When capable people become the operating system
Operational strain rarely happens because people are incapable. It happens because capable people keep absorbing more.
The executive closes the gaps. The director translates shifting priorities into action. The manager keeps an imperfect process moving because there is no time to rebuild it. The team creates workarounds simply to get the work done.
Eventually, important work begins to depend on memory, individual effort, and constant intervention.
I founded Wren to help change that.
Where leadership and execution meet
Throughout my career, I have helped executives, managers, and teams keep complex, highly visible work moving — starting in healthcare operations, then in aviation with PHI Group, Inc. and its aviation SaaS subsidiary, and later in aerospace with Pratt & Whitney. Along the way, I led the administrative operations supporting a global workforce of 2,000+ people and supported up to seven C-suite executives simultaneously, often across continents and time zones.
My strength is seeing the connections between people, priorities, processes, and decisions — and helping create enough structure for everyone to move forward with greater confidence.
Sometimes that means standing beside an executive who needs a trusted operational partner. Sometimes it means working alongside the directors, managers, and teams closest to a problem to understand what is not working and build something better.
Wren supports the people setting the direction, the people carrying it forward, and the systems connecting the two.
Think together. Build together. Work better.
The people closest to the work often already know where it breaks down. They know which steps are repeated, which handoffs get missed, which tools are not serving the team, and which processes depend too heavily on individual effort.
What they may not have is the time or capacity to step back and redesign it.
I work with leaders and teams to understand the operational reality, clarify ownership and handoffs, and build practical workflows, tools, and documentation that people can maintain.
The goal is not to add more process. It is to create the right amount of structure so priorities are understood and important work can move without constant intervention.
Calm, capable, and close to the work
I bring strategic perspective without distancing myself from the work itself. I am comfortable moving between the big picture and the smallest consequential detail because both matter when people are depending on the outcome.
At one point, I kept a couch outside my office in the executive suite. People stopped there to talk, take a breath, or ask for honest feedback while I worked. It became an unofficial place to land on a floor that could otherwise feel hard to approach. I valued that. Supporting leadership also meant being accessible to the people trying to do their work.
Wren is virtual-first, but that instinct comes with me. I want people to feel comfortable bringing me a question, telling me what is really happening, and working through it together—even when we’re sharing a screen instead of a hallway. Relief travels well.
I have built and run remote, cross-time-zone operations for years as a military spouse — it is simply how I work.
- Honest, thoughtful communication
- Respect for the people already doing the work
- Questions that uncover what is really getting in the way
- Structure designed around reality, not theory
- Proactive and dependable follow-through
- Practical improvements people can sustain
- Warmth, humor, and calm when the work gets complicated
A note from April
I know what it feels like to be the person others rely on — the one holding the details, anticipating what comes next, and translating direction into action.
I will not arrive with a generic system and tell you to reshape your work around it. I will listen, understand how the work actually happens, and help build a clearer, more manageable way forward.
Because relief is not stepping away from what matters. It is creating the capacity to do it well.
